Emmersdorf – the gate to the Wachau

The holiday village at the Danube

The market town Emmersdorf at the Danube lies in the Austrian federal state Lower Austria at the western end of the world-famous Wachau region, right opposite of Melk. As idyllic the market town lies embedded in the region, as fast and comfortable it can be reached in a simple way. Moreover, Emmersdorf lies near familiar Austrian towns such as St. Pölten (30 km), Krems (35 km) and Amstetten (50 km) and therefore is the ideal starting point for discovery journeys to the Wachau and its surrounding region.

Cycling from Emmersdorf

The holiday village Emmersdorf – not for nothing also called the “bikers’ village at the Danube” –offers the perfect starting point for bike trips to the Wachau and to the nearby Waldviertel as well as upstream to Grein. But also during hiking or Nordic Walking you can excellently discover the region.

High-quality city & mountain bikes as well as electric bikes for rental and a bike service will be available to you. Of course you will also find a bike garage for your own bikes. A popular combination is biking and a boat trip.

On the water

Enjoy contemplative hours with fishing during your holidays – at the Danube, at the Danube lake, at the Weitenbach and other waters in the vicinity. Fisher cards can be collected at the town hall of Emmersdorf. Even water sportsmen get their money’s worth in the Wachau, and those who want to go swimming will find the probably most beautiful natural sandy beach at the Danube right opposite of Luberegg.

Art & culture

The historical village centre of Emmersdorf will invite you to take a stroll and has been a source of inspiration for artists for centuries. Therefore, it is evident that art & culture flourish in the municipality. Notable comedians and music groups play at the Gossamer Kulturstadl every year in August. The venerable Magdalen’s chapel is a popular place for exhibitions, readings and concerts. And in the historical town church you can hear the expensively restored organ during concerts.
