Wine cellar – discover the best from the Wachau region
The place of liquid pleasures
A treasury of a special kind will await the guests in the “underworld” of the Donauhof: Josef Pichler’s and your sommelier Franz-Josef’s passion for exquisite wines is reflected in the romantic wine cellar which is built into an old brick vault.
From regional producers right to our wine cellar
The portly table, where the wines will be uncorked, will underline the special ambience during your wine tasting in the treasure chamber. Above all, the famous “Grüner Veltliner“ and “Riesling“ from the Wachau region can be regularly found among the best wines of the world in international competitions. But even all other top wines from Austria, Italy, California and South Africa will make epicures’ hearts rejoice.
The Wachau belongs to the best white wine regions of the world. Wines from the Wachau are marked with the famous seal which shows Leuthold I. von Kuenring. Only members of the area protection association "Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus", which was already founded in 1984, are allowed to use this seal.
In the wine cellar of the Donauhof hotel, delicacies by top winemakers from the Wachau, such as F.X. Pichler, Franz Hirtzberger, Leo Alzinger, Josef Högl, Franz-Josef Gritsch, Karl Stierschneider, Johann Donabaum or Anton Nothnagel – we will be happy to tell you more about the individual wines in a personal conversation.
Wine tastings are possible anytime on request. 3 or 5 types STANDARD or EXCLUSIVE.
